Sumiko Braun is a Los Angeles-based writer, producer, director, and actor best known for her role in the cult classic Sharknado. She has an M.A. from UCLA and a B.A.
from CSU Long Beach, both in ethnic studies. Through UCLA's EthnoCommunications program, Sumiko directed the award-winning documentary short Master of the Sky: The Life and Art of Sam Koji Hale.
As a Visual Communications Armed with a Camera fellow, Sumiko wrote, directed, edited, and produced the narrative short, Heart of Mind, which aired on Comcast's Xfinity On Demand for 2017's Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and is available streaming on Chopso in 2018.
