Cinema Finds Its Voice, produced by historians Eric Lange and Serge Bromberg, illustrates the birth of sound cinema.

Told from a European perspective, the film includes footage of the gadget-packed Allefex machine for live sync sound effects; Gaumont's 1905 Chronophone sound film system; and NotoFilm, in which notes of the musical accompaniment stream across the bottom of the silent screen.
