Rising basketball star Taiga Kagami returns to Japan after spending his childhood in America. At Seirin High School, Kagami befriends Tetsuya Kuroko.

Kuroko was the least talented player on a championship middle school basketball team, The Miracle Generation, but he sees a chance to carve out a new legacy with the help of Kagami.
