After he is captured by Soori and the other constables, the rebel leader, Perumal Vaathiyaar, opens up about the past that made him a revolutionary. He was once a school teacher who was forced to take up arms when the people of his village were attacked.

He trains them to form the 'Makkal Padai' - a rebel group.
