Godzilla Minus One, the new film of the radioactive giant produced and shot in Japan, has released a new trailer to celebrate the film's release in the Land of the Rising Sun and its upcoming arrival in the United States. Featuring a new, even more destructive and darker version of the monster, the film will take a different path to the North American version of the MonsterVerse, with the nuclear-breathed creature battling King Kong again. The critically acclaimed production, considered a masterpiece, marks the return of the Toho creature after the celebrated reinvention of Shin Godzilla. In fact, this new film, directed by Takashi Yamazaki, a two-time Japanese Academy Award-winning director with a wealth of kaiju experience, hits theaters today, November 3 in Japan and December 1 in the United States. And its story and concept promise to leave us open-mouthed.
The new story will take us to a convulsive scenario for Japan, a nation plunged into the post-war period and devastated after World War II and the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Special emphasis will take place on this aspect, on the destruction of society and life by nuclear horror, with the protagonists coming to terms with the sins and mistakes of their leaders, and Godzilla being the embodiment of this evil. Yamazaki's idea is to turn Godzilla into a new symbol of destruction, something that is reflected in his physical redesign, capable of further ruining a country that finds itself, after the war, in an economic and social state reduced to zero.
In addition, beyond this film, Godzilla will return to television with Monarch: Legacy of Monster for Apple TV which will premiere on November 17.
