Yesterday, the whole world received the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. In fact, she was the longest reigning monarch in the United Kingdom, present from 1952 until this year. Many movies portray the life of the late queen, but the Netflix series 'The Crown' has done it like no other movie/series. The series, from the first episode shows us the young Elizabeth II, when at a very young age, has to take the throne and also marry Philip of Edinburgh.
Throughout all of its seasons, with each season, the series continues to grab more viewers, making The Crown one of the most popular series on the streaming platform. In fact, it has been nominated and awarded multiple times in recent years, such as at the Emmy and Golden Globe Awards.
The fourth season, released two years ago, shows us the late 1970s, after the Silver Jubilee of Queen Isabell II, played by Olivia Colman. In this one, the monarch shares power with the first woman to assume as Minister of Great Britain, Margaret Thatcher, also called the Iron Lady, played by Gillian Anderson. On the other hand, it also tells us how the tragic marriage between Prince Charles and Diana Spencer begins.
This last season was a total success, prompting Netflix to renew the series for a fifth, which will premiere soon. The new episodes will start in the 1930s and early 2000s and the main plot will be the divorce between Charles and Diana, as well as showing the tragic accident where Lady Di loses her life. The fifth season of The Crown will arrive on Netflix in November, although there is no official day yet.
