Paul Pelosi, the 86-year-old husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is under investigation following an alleged hit-and-run collision in Yountville, California.
Local law enforcement authorities confirmed that the incident took place on the afternoon of Friday, July 3, 2026, causing significant property damage but resulting in no reported injuries.
According to official news releases from the Napa County Sheriff's Department, the collision occurred around 2:30 p.m. on the 6700 block of Yount Street.
Paul Pelosi was operating a brown convertible when his vehicle struck an unoccupied, legally parked car on the side of the roadway. The impact left the parked vehicle with major rear-end damage.
A witness at the scene informed responding deputies that the driver of the convertible stopped briefly immediately after the impact but then chose to drive away from the area.
Law enforcement personnel launched an immediate search for the departing vehicle based on the witness descriptions.
Deputies located the suspect vehicle a short time later partially blocking Yountville Cross Road, where a California Highway Patrol vehicle had already pulled in behind it.
The brown convertible exhibited significant damage to its front right side.
Upon identifying the driver as Paul Pelosi, deputies questioned him regarding the collision.
Authorities stated that Pelosi admitted to hitting something during his drive but claimed he did not know exactly what he had struck, which influenced his decision to keep driving.
He continued operating the vehicle until the front-end damage rendered the convertible completely disabled and unable to travel any further.
