After the last 'Miami Vice' 2006 film starring Colin Farrell ('The Penguin') and Jamie Foxx ('The Burial'), Universal is coming back with a revival for the intellectual property with Joseph Kosinski, the filmmaker in charge of the Box office hit 'Top Gun: Maverick', directing.
Alongside Kosinski, Dan Gilroy will take care of the screenplay, with this being his comeback after over 6 Years, with his last film being 'The Velvet Buzzsaw' starring Jake Gyllenhaal, just like his biggest film 'Nightcrawler'.
There are not much details about the new installment, we don't know if either Farrell or Foxx will return for it, or if they are creating completely new characters for this. Dylan Clark Productions and Monolith are also serving as producers for the project, but with it being so early on the development stage, it'll be a few months until we hear more details.
'Miami Vice' started as a TV series, and in esence it was quite different from what the 2006 movie was, although both incredibly successful, we don't know which way they will go for this new film, but there are a lot of actors that will be competing to bring this to life, specially with the team involved and their track record with overperforming box office hits.
Let's wait until Universal or new sources reveal more details about the project and hope that the crime thriller can deliver a great level of screenwriting and personality, specially with how visually striking both the show and the film are.
