According to Deadline's exclusive, there's a new 'Desperate Housewives' reboot in the works by the name of 'Wisteria Lane'. The series will be in charge of Disney's Onyx Collective, with Kerry Washington's productiong company Simpson Street also involved.
The creator and writer will be Natalie Chaidez, with her most recent project being Award winning comedy 'The Flight Attendant'. This time around, with 'Wisteria Lane', the series is a dark comedy and a mystery, leaning towards the soap opera vibe of the early 2000's original.
The fans of the 'Desperate Housewives' will know the setup by heart, but this time it will follow a completely new group of friends inhabiting these suburbs. 5 women that can't decide if they are friends or enemies, and the things that go on behind their picture perfect facade.
The original ran for 8 years, from 2004 to 2012, and all of them pretty successful seasons that didn't miss a beat when it came to being irrevent and a little problematic, so this reboot has some big messy shoes to fill.
The project seems to be moving fast, so we'll surely be hearing about the cast soon enough, with the project probably premiering either on Hulu or Disney+, considering Disney is the primary owner of the companies working in the production.
