Former baseball player Jim Edmonds recently celebrated his daughter Aspen's ninth birthday, posting family photos online just as news broke about a major update in his ongoing custody battle with ex-wife and former Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan King.
A judge recently granted Edmonds sole physical custody of their three children, meaning King will now have supervised visitation only.
Edmonds shared several images of the Taylor Swift-themed celebration for his daughter, Aspen. The pictures showed the family, including his wife Kortnie Edmonds, smiling at the party.
Aspen’s cake read "Feeling 9 (Aspen's Version)," and the decorations featured heart hands and a pink football with the number "87"—a clear nod to Travis Kelce.
Jim Edmonds captioned the photos saying, "What a week! A lot to be thankful for," which fans believe referenced both the birthday and the court decision.
The family celebration comes right after a judge’s ruling greatly changed the custody arrangement. Edmonds received sole physical custody of their daughter and twin sons.
The court also ordered King to have only supervised visits with the children.
This temporary custody ruling followed an investigation by Child Protective Services (CPS).
A school employee reportedly contacted CPS after King allegedly gave her six-year-old son, Hayes, the ADHD medication Ritalin without a prescription and asked the school nurse to administer it.
Hayes does not have an ADHD diagnosis.
The ongoing custody fight has been dramatic since Jim Edmonds and King divorced in 2019. This ruling marks the biggest shift in their co-parenting dynamic to date.
A hearing is set for early December to decide if this new custody arrangement will become permanent.
For now, Edmonds focuses on his family, making sure his daughter’s ninth birthday was a happy, memorable event during this period of legal change.
