Veteran actor Kevin Spacey used social media to definitively deny rumors that he is currently homeless, placing the blame for the confusion squarely on media outlets who sensationalized his recent comments.
The actor insisted he is not "living on the streets" despite losing his permanent residence.
Kevin Spacey clarified the situation because the widespread "homeless" narrative prompted numerous loyal fans to contact him, offering everything from spare couches to checking on his well-being.
He publicly thanked those who reached out to offer assistance.
He explained he recently had an in-depth conversation with a journalist from The Telegraph. However, Spacey feels the outlet—in an attempt to generate attention—took his remarks entirely out of context.
The actor admitted he does not currently own a permanent residence, stating, "I'm living in hotels, I'm living in Airbnbs, I'm going where the work is. I literally have no home, that's what I'm attempting to explain.”
Kevin likened his current transient lifestyle to his early career, explaining, "You get through it. In weird ways, I feel I'm back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was."
Spacey does not, however, consider this lack of a fixed address to equate to being "homeless" in the colloquial sense, asserting he is not living rough.
This situation follows Spacey's widely publicized financial troubles.
Last year, he sold his Baltimore home, telling Piers Morgan he exhausted vast sums of money defending himself against various allegations of sexual assault, including one brought by fellow actor Anthony Rapp.
Kevin Spacey maintains that his primary goal right now is returning to work. He hopes to eventually settle down again "if things continue to improve."
The actor clearly does not want the rumor mill to continue churning false, distressing information about his personal living situation.
