Singapore has permanently barred a 26-year-old man, Johnson Wen, after he rushed the red carpet and grabbed Ariana Grande during a November 13 promotional event for the film Wicked: For Good.
Following the intrusion, authorities deported Wen from the country on Sunday.
During the "Yellow Carpet" event, Wen dashed toward Grande. Her co-star, Cynthia Erivo, immediately stepped in and shielded her friend.
The court later convicted Wen of being a public nuisance, sentencing him to nine days in jail.
Prosecutors labeled Wen a "serial intruder," arguing he meticulously planned the entire stunt to generate a viral social media video.
Although Wen served his time, he seemed unapologetic after his release. He posted photos and even thanked Grande on Instagram for allowing him to "Jump on the Yellow Carpet" with her.
Wen has a history of celebrity intrusions; in fact, he previously jumped onstage to get close to Katy Perry and The Weeknd.
