Orange Is the New Black star Taryn Manning posted a provocative video on Instagram Monday, featuring herself dancing topless in what she called a moment of "freedom."
The video quickly drew attention and mixed reactions from fans online.
The controversial clip showed Manning dancing barefoot while wearing an unbuttoned shirt.
She ultimately dropped the shirt entirely, revealing her bare chest.
Manning accompanied the post with a caption suggesting a return to natural freedom.
She wrote, "We have zero control of the outcome. Your birthday suit is yours.
Remember we only became self conscious after EVE messed up. Go back the roots! Be free again."
The post immediately sparked questions from some of her followers, including one who asked, "Is this the new Britney?"
This reference nods to the 2002 film Crossroads, in which Manning co-starred with Britney Spears.
Since her run on Orange Is the New Black, Manning has maintained a steady acting career, most recently starring in the horror-thriller Bloodline Killer.
However, the actress has had other highly unusual public episodes in recent years. In 2023, for instance, a report claimed she was seen outside in Palm Springs wearing only her underwear.
Earlier this year, a photo surfaced showing her looking disheveled while sitting on top of a car.
It remains unclear what specifically prompted Manning to upload the new topless post, but she actively defends the sentiment behind her message of unfettered personal liberation.
This wouldn't be the first time that Taryn gets on a social media rant, as she has previously done the same thing about having an affair with a married man.
