Wenne Alton-Davis, an actress who appeared in the Amazon Prime series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, died tragically after an SUV struck her in New York City.
An SUV hit the 60-year-old actress while she crossed a street in Manhattan on Monday.
Wenne Alton-Davis, whose real name was Wendy Davis, sustained a severe head injury in the collision.
The incident occurred near Broadway when a 61-year-old man driving a Cadillac SUV hit her while he was making a left turn onto West 53rd Street.
According to police reports, Wenne had the right of way in the crosswalk when the vehicle struck her.
Paramedics rushed Wenne Alton-Davis to Mount Sinai Hospital, but she died later that night from her injuries.
The driver remained at the scene following the accident and police have not charged him in connection with the fatal collision.
The tragedy is particularly heartbreaking due to a final exchange the actress had just hours before the accident.
A friend, Edward Reynoso, told the New York Daily News that Davis told him, "I love you, I appreciate you," shortly before she died.
He recalled that the words felt strange to him at the time, almost like she was saying goodbye.
Wenne was a working actress who appeared in several television roles.
She was best known for playing a police officer opposite lead actress Rachel Brosnahan in a 2023 episode of the critically acclaimed series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
She also held roles on other network shows, including Blindspot and New Amsterdam.
