Pop legend Madonna shared details about her creative habits and family life in a new interview published on Monday, June 22, 2026.
The 67-year-old singer spoke with Interview magazine about how she writes music while preparing for her upcoming album, Confessions II.
During the conversation, she revealed that her best ideas arrive when she avoids forcing the process.
Madonna explained that she often feels like something else takes over her body when she creates music.
She stated that song ideas possess her when she relaxes and stops trying too hard. The pop icon enjoys collaborating with music producer Stuart Price because their workflow feels completely natural.
She noted that she does not have to think when she works with Price. Instead, they simply channel the music together.
To prepare for the new project, Madonna listened to her original 2005 record, Confessions on a Dance Floor, because she wanted the new tracks to match or exceed that quality.
The upcoming album features a highly personal collaboration between Madonna and her oldest daughter, Lourdes Leon, who goes by the name Lola.
Madonna revealed that Lola actually approached her about writing a song together.
The singer welcomed the idea because both women wanted to heal their relationship after experiencing previous family tension.
The joint studio session resulted in a track titled The Test. Madonna expressed immense pride in Lola, calling her daughter highly talented.
She stated that creating the song together served as an important emotional moment that convinced her that she needed to finish the entire album.
