Killer Heat, thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, and Richard Madden just released the first official trailer in an exclusive article for People. This is the film adaptation of Jo Nesbø's short story "The Jealousy Man." Set in a small coastal town during a scorching summer, the film follows a group of friends whose secrets come to light, triggering a chain of deadly events. This thrilling contemporary noir mystery follows private detective Nick Bali (Gordon-Levitt), an American expat in Greece, who is hired to investigate the supposedly accidental death of young shipping magnate Leo Vardakis (Madden) on the island of Crete.
Nonetheless, the victim's sister-in-law (Woodley) does not quite believe the official police report. But she certainly wants to know what exactly happened to Leo, and the reasons behint it. However, despite the sun-soaked beauty of its exotic Mediterranean setting, Nick finds darkness at every turn: in a place where the wealthy and powerful Vardakis family reigns like gods, where jealousies run deep, and anyone could be a suspect. Filming in Crete, a lifelong ambition of Gordon-Levitt's, was a major part of the movie's production, the production of Killer Heat took place around 6 weeks in the winter of 2023.
At the helm is Philippe Lacôte, director of the acclaimed Night of the Kings and Run. Under Brad Weston's production, and with Nesbø, Tom Karnowski, Niclas Salomonsson, and Collin Creighton overseeing as executive producers, as well as the main stars serving as executive producers as well. The film boasts an amazing supporting cast featuring Babou Ceesay (Dark Money), Clare Holman (Sherwood), and Abbey Lee (Horizon: An American Story). Killer Heat will premiere on the platform on September 26.
