Golf legend Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a two-vehicle rollover crash near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida, on Friday, March 27, 2026.
The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. ET on South Beach Road.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Woods was driving a black Range Rover at a high rate of speed in a 30 mph zone when he attempted to overtake a pickup truck pulling a pressure-washing trailer.
As the truck slowed to turn into a driveway, Woods swerved to avoid it but clipped the back corner of the trailer.
The impact caused his SUV to roll onto the driver’s side and slide down the roadway for a significant distance.
Tiger Woods, who was alone in the vehicle, was able to crawl out through the passenger-side door. Fortunately, authorities reported no serious injuries to Woods or the other driver.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek stated during a news conference that Woods "exemplified signs of impairment" at the scene, appearing lethargic during roadside sobriety tests.
While Tiger Woods complied with a breathalyzer test which "blew triple zeroes," indicating no alcohol was in his system, he reportedly refused a urine test. Under Florida’s implied consent laws, this refusal led to additional legal complications.
The 50-year-old golfer faces several misdemeanor charges, including: DUI (Driving Under the Influence), Property Damage, Refusal to Submit to a Lawful Test
Investigators believe medication or drugs may have caused the impairment, though they found no substances inside the vehicle.
Due to his refusal of the urinalysis, officials noted that they may never have definitive results regarding what caused the impairment.
State law required Woods to remain in jail for at least eight hours following his arrest.
