Every year, as new movies and series come out, streaming platforms get bigger and bigger. And so, once the awards season has begun, the so-called 'streaming wars' begin. One of the most important award ceremonies, and one of the most celebrated, is the Emmy Awards. Thus, every year, the Emmys invite us to know what the results of the different platforms have been. Last year, there was no doubt that Netflix crushed all other competitors, matching the milestone reached by CBS in 1974 after taking 44 awards. To make clear the difference and the great victory that the streaming platform achieved, we only have to verify that HBO and HBO Max, its immediate pursuers, "only" added a total of 19 awards.
But a couple of nights ago, when this year's 2022nd Emmy Awards were held, HBO's streaming platform, HBO Max, which is also subsidized by WarnerMedia, turned the competition upside down (in its favor). The platform won a total of 37 Emmys, 2 in the primetime categories and another 25 in the technical and creative categories. The responsible for this incredible triumph are the series 'The White Lotus' with a total of 10 awards, Succesion with 4, Euphoria 6 and finally, Hacks with 3.
Behind HBO Max is Netflix, who now, is the defeated platform. On this occasion, the streaming platform only obtained a total of 26 awards, not bad, but nothing compared to last year. 23 of these awards are due to technical and creative categories, the other three come from productions such as 'Squid Games' and 'Ozark'. Behind these two giants, Hulu and Apple TV+ are technically tied. Each won 8 and 7 awards respectively. In addition, Disney+ came in last with only six awards.
