Try as they might, Sony just can't get their live-action superhero franchise off the ground. While it has found tremendous success with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, is not the same for the antihero movies that Sony has tried to bring out in live-action. One that is in trouble is El Muerto, a film that was to star Bad Bunny. According to One Take News, Bad Bunny has reportedly dropped out of the El Muerto movie that Sony announced a year ago. The report indicates that this was the reason why the studio decided to withdraw the title from its release schedule just a few days ago. This comes after weeks of speculation about whether or not the project would be made after an interview with the singer in which he seemed to not have many details about it.
El Muerto was to hit theaters on January 12, 2024, however, after the filming changed, the movie "The Book of Clarence", the sequel to the western "The Harder The Fall", will take the January 12, 2024 date, ceding its release slot, stipulated for September 22, 2023, to "Dumb Money", the film about the history of GameStop led by Paul Dano.
In fact, te shooting of the film continues and Sony Pictures sais here are no plans to scrap the film yet.
El Muerto, which will mark the first time a Latino character stars in a live-action film in the Marvel franchise. In fact, Jonás Cuarón will direct and Columbia Pictures will produce. In addition, as for its plot, it is a Spider-Man spin-off production about an anti-hero son of a wrestler who is next in line to inherit the ancestral power of the one known as El Muerto.
