Hotel heir Rick Hilton used a shotgun to scare off three burglars who broke into his and wife Kathy Hilton's upscale Los Angeles home.
Kathy Hilton, a star on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, spoke publicly about the frightening incident that happened while she was away attending BravoCon in Las Vegas.
According to Kathy, the security guard was temporarily at the guest house when the thieves broke a window to enter the property.
Rick Hilton was home and heard the disturbance. He acted quickly, grabbing a shotgun just moments before the intruders broke down the door to the master bedroom.
Rick confronted the burglars directly, yelling at them to leave immediately and telling them that the police were on the way.
Once the family's security guard arrived, the three intruders fled the house.
To make sure the men stayed away and to discourage them from returning, Rick then fired the shotgun into the air from his office. The quick action by Rick Hilton likely prevented a much more dangerous situation.
The break-in at the Hilton residence was not the only one involving cast members of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills that weekend.
Law enforcement sources confirmed that Sutton Stracke, Kathy Hilton’s co-star, also had her home burglarized in November while she was at BravoCon.
In Sutton's case, her dog walker found a broken kitchen window and called 911.
Later that same day, Rick Hilton called 911 to report the three active burglars inside his home.
By the time police arrived at both locations, the criminals had already escaped, and it remains unclear if they took any items from the Hilton residence.
Kathy Hilton confirmed that since the terrifying event, the family has significantly upgraded their home's security to a maximum level.
This incident adds to a disturbing trend of luxury homes belonging to reality TV stars and celebrities in Los Angeles being targeted by organized theft rings.
