From a short story by writer and filmmaker Neil M. Paik, 'Homewreckers' becomes the project a lot of studios are fighting to get. After selling production rights for two of his previous short stories to companies like Amazon and Warners, it seems like the industry is betting on Paik's work as a screenwriter to be great.
The most recent example being an unpublished story by the name of 'Homewreckers', a sci-fi erotic thriller that already has a main actor and producer (Glen Powell), even without a production company yet. Not for a lack of interest, but because big names like Sony, Warners, or Lionsgate, are making big offers and trying to outbid themselves over the rights for this story.
There aren't a lot of details about the plot at the moment, with so many big companies showing interest in something like this, they are trying to keep things hidden until there's a final deal. But what we do know is thanks to The Hollywood Reporter and their source, who reveals that the project is an erotic thriller in the likes of 'Fatal Attraction', while focusing more on modern themes, with a Sci-Fi twist.
Allegedly comparable to big titles like Alex Garland's 'Ex Machina', and already Glen Powell is in on the project as a producer and main actor, after such a big year with titles like 'Twisters', 'Anyone But You' and 'Hit Man' we can say that Powell and his team have an eye for successful titles, and with such interesting premise and so much interest around it, it wouldn't be a surprise that 'Homewreckers' becomes an important movie when it comes out.
