The newest movie starring Bill Skarsgård and Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, 'Locked', opens in theaters today, the second film by 'Brightburn' director David Yarovesky. A new action thriller and remake of the 2019 Argentinian film 4x4 by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat.
With a screenplay by Michael Arlen Ross and a ZQ Entertainment and Raimi Productions production and a distribution deal by The Avenue, the film follows Eddie (Skarsgård) a criminal and carjacker that seems to hit the lottery when he finds a brand new modern vehicle unlocked in the middle of a parking lot, only to trap himself inside it by William (Hopkins) the sociopathic owner of this vehicle planning to capture and torture this criminal.
Skarsgård has been in high demand ever since his role in 'IT', and his talent for thrillers and horror is always lauded, with 'Locked' not being the exception, with early reviews praising Skarsgård and Hopkins acting force despite some flaws in the script and pacing.
The film currently holds 65% positive reviews with 40 reviews by critics at the moment, the general audiences calling it a great thriller to watch on a sunday, a fun, easy and tense watch, following on the steps od the director's previous film 'Brightburn', with some calling it fun enough but nothing exceptionally good.
If you are looking for a good enough action thriller to enjoy this weekend and like the cast, make sure to check 'Locked' before the theatrical run ends, or you can wait for the VOD release in about a month if it does not perform as expected.
